Our mission & values

MISSION

Our mission is to bring glory to God by making maturing followers who are Celebrating Jesus, Cultivating Community, and Carrying the Gospel.

VALUES

These values are a picture of what a maturing follower of Jesus looks like. They direct everything we do as a church body:

Prayer Focused  Prayer is our primary way of communicating with our Father.  It's through prayer that we have access to the throne of God. Through prayer we play our part in seeing God's kingdom come and His Will done on earth. Through prayer the Father speaks to us and strengthens us.

"Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need." Hebrews 4:16

Biblically Measured  The Word of God has the power to transform us.  Being Biblically measured is a commitment to reading God's Word and allowing it to have authority in our lives.

"Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom, and as you sing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs with gratitude in your hearts to God."  Colossians 3:16

Spirit-Led Lifestyle  We live in a culture that has become increasingly tolerant of sinful behavior.  Being Spirit-led is a commitment to a lifestyle of confessing our sinfulness to God, seeking His forgiveness, and living a life that honors him in every way.

"So I say live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature." Galatians 5:16

Family Faithful  The family is the place where we live out God's commands and impress them on our children. Being family faithful is a commitment to making your marriage and family a priority.  Marriage is the best picture of how Jesus relates to His Bride the church.  It's in the marriage relationship that we learn how to love sacrificially, how to forgive one another when husbands and wives hurt each other, and how to love and respect one another.  In a sense, living out the gospel of Jesus.

"Husbands love your wives as Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her...  Ephesians 5:25

"Love the Lord with all your heart, and with all your soul and with all your strength.  These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts.  Impress them on your children.  Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up." Deuteronomy 6:5-7

Financially Generous  Everything that we have comes from God, and it is all His.  The Bible encourages us to use our wealth to help others who are in need and to give to the ministry of the local church.  In doing so, we are investing in things that are eternal.

"Honor the Lord with you wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops."  Proverbs 3:9

Bold Witness  God calls us to boldly declare the good news of the gospel of Jesus.  It's not something to be ashamed of but rather something that should be shared.  Being a bold witness means carrying the gospel into my family, neighborhood, workplace, and world.

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God for salvation of everyone who believes: first for the Jew, then for the Gentile." Romans 1:16

Responsible to My Neighbor  It is so easy for us to get focused on ourselves.  Being responsible to my neighbor means loving those around us enough to consider their needs and allow God to use us to meet those needs. Your neighbors are the people that you see everyday. They are the people you work with. They are the people you live next to.  They are the people that you sit next to in church.

"Jesus replied: Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.  This is the first and greatest commandment.  And the second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself.  All the Law and the Prophets hang on these two commandments." Matthew 22:37-40

our leadership

We place a high priority on team at Crossroads.

I Peter 2:4-5 it says "As you come to him, the living Stone-rejected by men but chosen by God and precious to him- you also, like living stones, are being built into a spiritual house to be a holy priesthood, offering spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God through Jesus Christ."

We believe that this verse is talking about all believers.  Each of us has gifts and abilities that are given by God for the purpose of building the church.  That's why it's important to us that each person is part of a ministry team.  the church wasn't designed to watch the pastor do all the ministry. That's why we have multiple men who preach including both pastors as well as gifted men from the congregation.  All of our ministry is made up of teams of people working together to bring glory to God and cultivate deeper community.

ELDER TEAM

We believe the bible teaches a plurality of leaders called Elders.  As Paul went around planting churches in the New Testament, He would appoint Elders to oversee these New churches.  I Peter 5:1-3 instructs Elders saying this "To the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder, a witness of Christ's sufferings and one who also will share in the glory to be revealed: Be shepherds of God's flock that is under your care, serving as overseers- not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not greedy for money, but eager to serve; not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock." Crossroads Elder team is made up of men selected from the congregation as well as the pastors.  Their primary goal is to serve the congregation by providing spiritual care to all who attend and the necessary spiritual leadership to ensure that the church remains healthy and continues to follow the vision and mission that God has given to this family of believers.

MINISTRY TEAM

The Bible also gives us the example of deacons/deaconesses being appointed to serve the local church (Acts 6, I Timothy 3:8-13).  We see examples in the early church of men and women serving the local body (Romans 16).  At Crossroads, we refer to our deacons/deaconesses as team leaders.  Our team leaders carry out the various ministries of Crossroads and invite others to join them in ministry.  Our heart is to see the ministries of the church continue to grow and expand into various areas depending on the needs and gifts that our in our church and community.
